In observance of World Snake Day 2026, observed globally on 16th July with the theme “Respect Snakes • Protect Nature • Save Lives”, the Department of Agada Tantra of Karnataka Ayurvedic Medical College, a constituent institution of SCS Group of Institutions, organized a Guest Lecture on 20 July 2026 to promote awareness on snake conservation, snakebite management, and the ecological importance of snakes.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Surabhi P., Assistant Professor, Department of Agada Tantra, who welcomed the dignitaries, faculty members, staff, and students.
Dr. Ajith Kamath M., Professor and HOD, Department of Agada Tantra and Vice Principal, spoke about the significance of World Snake Day. He emphasized the role of snakes in maintaining ecological balance and highlighted the importance of creating awareness to prevent fear-based killing and human-snake conflict.
The Chief Guest and Resource Person, Ms Saranya, Founder, Kaadanthara Foundation, Mysuru, addressed the gathering. She delivered an informative and interactive guest lecture on snake identification, first aid in snakebite, conservation efforts, and the connection of snakes with Ayurveda and traditional medicine. She motivated students to adopt a respectful attitude towards wildlife and become advocates for nature conservation.
Mr Shreyas A Jain, wildlife conservationist and educator, he addressed the gathering on snake identification, snake handling, first aid in snake bite.
Dr. Sajith M, Principal, delivered the Presidential Address and appreciated the efforts of the Department of Agada Tantra in organizing awareness programmes that integrate traditional knowledge with modern conservation practices.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. shabana B.S., Associate Professor, Department of Agada Tantra. The event witnessed active participation from faculty members and students.
