The fourth day of SHISHIKSHA 2026 – Internship Orientation Programme was conducted with a series of informative and interactive academic sessions aimed at enhancing the clinical, administrative and professional competencies of the interns.
Session 1: Awareness on NABH Standards and Hospital Practices
The first session was delivered by *Dr. Akshatha K. Bhat,* Professor and Head of the Department of Shalakya Tantra, Yenepoya Ayurveda Medical College, Mangaluru.
The session focused on updated NABH standards for Ayurveda hospitals, biomedical waste management and disposal, and hospital infection control practices. It highlighted the importance of maintaining quality standards, patient safety and hygiene in healthcare institutions.
Session 2: Communication, Leadership and Counselling
The second session was conducted by **Dr. Ravindra Bhat,* Professor, Department of Kaya Chikitsa.
The session emphasized the importance of effective communication, leadership qualities and counselling skills in professional practice. It highlighted the role of interpersonal relationships, teamwork and patient-centred communication in delivering quality healthcare.
Session 3: Introduction to Kaumarabhritya
The third session was delivered by *Dr. Kripa D* ., Assistant Professor, Department of Kaumarabhritya.
The session provided insights into the principles and clinical aspects of Kaumarabhritya, highlighting the importance of child healthcare, growth, development and paediatric care in Ayurveda.
Session 4: Prasuti Tantra and Stri Roga
The fourth session was conducted by *Dr. Vani,* Professor, and *Dr. Raksha* S., Assistant Professor, Department of Prasuti Tantra and Stri Roga.
The session introduced the interns to important aspects of women’s health, obstetrics and gynaecological care from an Ayurvedic perspective, emphasizing the significance of comprehensive maternal and reproductive healthcare.
