Free Ayurveda Medical Camp focusing on musculoskeletal disorders on 16th February

Mangaluru, February 16: A six-day Free Ayurveda Medical Camp focusing on musculoskeletal disorders was inaugurated on 16th February at the OPD Block of Karnataka Ayurveda Medical College & Hospital, Hoigebail, Ashoknagar.
The camp is being organized by the Department of PG Studies in Kayachikitsa and will be conducted from February 16 to 21, 2026, between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM. The initiative aims to provide free expert consultation and promote awareness about the Ayurvedic management of chronic joint and spine-related disorders.
During the inaugural address, the College Principal, Dr. Sajith Mangalassery, highlighted the importance of community outreach programs in promoting preventive and holistic healthcare through Ayurveda. The Head of the Department of Kayachikitsa, Dr. Waheeda Banu, emphasized early diagnosis, lifestyle modification, and individualized treatment in managing conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, low back pain, cervical spondylosis, and frozen shoulder.
A special free Bone Mineral Density (BMD) screening camp, in association with Medi Lab, is scheduled on 17th February as part of the program. The screening will enable early detection of bone health issues, particularly among elderly individuals and post-menopausal women.
Senior faculty members of the Kayachikitsa Department actively examined patients and provided guidance on diet, lifestyle, and medication. Free Ayurvedic medicines were distributed to the beneficiaries. Consultants, postgraduate scholars, internees, and hospital staff were present on the occasion.
The programme received a good response from the community, with active participation from patients, faculty, and students. The event began with a prayer by Intern Ms. Sanjana. The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Sahana M., Associate Professor, Department of Kayachikitsa. The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. R. Santhoshini, Assistant Professor, and the programme was efficiently moderated by Dr. Krithi N. K., Assistant Professor, Department of Kayachikitsa.
