On the occasion of the International Day of Older Persons, a health check-up camp was conducted at Ramakrishna Old Age Home, Ashokanagara, Mangaluru, on 15 October 2026 by the Department of PG Studies in Kayachikitsa, Karnataka Ayurveda Medical College, Mangaluru.
The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Waheeda Banu, Professor and Head, Department of PG Studies in Kayachikitsa, Karnataka Ayurveda Medical College, Mangaluru.
The camp was coordinated by Dr. Sahana M, Associate Professor, with the participation of Dr. Anitha, Dr. Krithi N.K., and Dr. Savitha, Assistant Professors, who served as consultants during the programme.
The health check-up aimed to assess the health status of the elderly residents, identify their health concerns, and provide appropriate medical guidance. The residents were examined, and necessary advice regarding health maintenance, diet, lifestyle, and preventive healthcare was provided.
The programme highlighted the importance of regular health check-ups, early identification of health problems, and comprehensive healthcare for senior citizens. It also emphasized the role of Ayurveda in promoting healthy ageing and improving the quality of life of older persons.
The camp was conducted as a meaningful initiative to promote the health and well-being of elderly residents and to reaffirm the commitment of the institution towards community healthcare and geriatric care.
Postgraduate scholars and interns of the college actively participated in the health check-up camp and assisted the consultants in examining the elderly residents under the guidance of the faculty members.
