In continuation with the NMPB project on conservation of medicinal plants, Karnataka Ayurveda Medical College, Ashoknagar, Mangaluru-2, Department of PG studies in Dravyaguna, visited Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Residential School, Ulaibettu, Mangaluru on 20-07-2026. As a part of the visit, total of 10 plants including edible fruit bearing plants with medicinal plants, vermicompost and cow dung manure were handed over to the school authorities. The program was inaugurated by the students of the school by planting Bilva plant. Dr. Swapna Bhat HOD, Department of P. G studies in Dravyaguna, Karnataka Ayurveda Medical College delivered the introductory speech on the importance of medicinal plants.
Dr. Soumyashree K. M, Associate professor, Department of Dravyaguna enlightened the students regarding the medicinal uses of the given plants.
Dr. Roopa V. Rao, Yoga Instructor, conducted an interactive yoga session and demonstrated simple yogasanas for the health and well being of students of the school. As a part of general health check up, a health camp was also conducted by a team of doctors. The camp was attended by Dr. Savita, Dr. Anitha, Dr. Shwetha Prabhu, Dr. Mahanya and RMO Dr. Rashmi and interns. Around 120 students underwent general health check-ups and medical assessments. Principal of Dr. B R Ambedkar Residential School, Ulaibettu Mrs. Sumangala, Dr. Sridevi, Professor, Dr. Srijaya V Prabhu, Associate Professor, Dr. Niyathi, Associate Professor and Dr. Shivani B Rao, assistant professor, teaching staffs of the school and students were present.
