World No Tobacco Day

On the occasion of World No Tobacco Day, an awareness program was organized by the Department of Agada Tantra Evum Vidhi Vaidyaka, Karnataka Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital on 11th June 2025 in the college auditorium.
The event featured a guest lecture on the theme “Tobacco & Youth – A Growing Concern”, delivered by Dr. Ganesh Naik, Professor and Head, Department of Agada Tantra Evum Vidhi Vaidyaka, Sharada Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital, Mangalore. Dr. Naik elaborated on the various health and social hazards associated with tobacco use, especially among the youth.
Dr. Swapna Bhat, Principal of the institution, administered a pledge against the use of tobacco and addressed the gathering, emphasizing the collective responsibility of youth and healthcare professionals in tobacco prevention.
Dr. Jyothi R Joshi, Professor & Head of the Department of Agada Tantra Evum Vidhi Vaidyaka, provided an overview of the year’s World No Tobacco Day theme, highlighting the urgent need to curb tobacco abuse by supporting the WHO initiative of plain packaging of the Cigarette packs.
The program began with a warm welcome by Dr. Ajith Kamath, Associate Professor and Vice Principal of KAMC&H. II BAMS student  Emisha introduced the resource person with great enthusiasm, while student Amrita B. efficiently carried out the duties of the Master of Ceremony.
The event was graced by the presence of faculty members, and a large number of undergraduate students actively participated and benefited from the session. The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Harshavardhan, Associate Professor of the department.
The awareness program served as an impactful platform to sensitize the student community about the dangers of tobacco and promote a healthier, tobacco-free lifestyle.
