Cataract Awareness Month, a free eye screening camp

As part of Cataract Awareness Month, a free eye screening camp was inaugurated on Friday at Karnataka Ayurveda Medical College Hospital, Ashoknagar.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Veena Vinayak, Medical Director of Karnataka Ayurveda Medical College Hospital and Head of the Department of Shalakya Tantra, highlighted the importance of cataract awareness. She stated that cataract is one of the leading causes of preventable blindness and emphasized that awareness about cataracts and regular eye examinations play a vital role in preventing vision loss.
College Principal Dr. Sajith Mangalassery urged the public to make use of the free eye screening camp and maintain eye health through specialized Ayurvedic ophthalmic treatments such as Anjana Karma and Aschyotana (medicated eye drops).
Medical Superintendent Dr. Uday D.K., intern doctors, and hospital staff were present on the occasion.
Dr. Manushree M.M. welcomed the gathering, while Dr. Swathi Suvarna compared the programme. Dr. Abhishek T.R. proposed the vote of thanks.
The camp will be conducted from June 5 to June 15. Free eye examinations and consultations will be provided, and Kriyakalpa eye therapies will be available at a concessional rate of 20% discount. The public has been encouraged to make use of this opportunity, according to a press release.
